EVALUATING THE BED & BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE:
Here are the results of a small poll carried out at La Mouchère, to see what our guests liked about their stay in our B & B
- A spacious room
- In the château itself, like a real guest (not in the stables or pigsty, however well restored)
- High-ish ceilings, or at least normal standing room (not a converted attic where you bump your head)
- Mattresses both supportive and soft : many small pocketed springs is the best.
- Beautiful bed linen, either white family heirloom linen or, for a change, contemporary sateen from good designers like Kenzo, Hugo Boss or Olivier des Forges…
- Bathsheets, which cover from the shoulders to your knees, not a mean loin-cloth.
- A welcoming tray, with your kettle, coffee, tea, tisanes, mineral water etc …
- Hair dryer and a hot water bottle in every room. And a guest resource cabinet, to borrow or use things you may have forgotten
- Rooms to meet in outside your bedroom, possibly with a fire in the fireplace ;
- A Library at your disposal and books in your room
- Access to Wi-fi, just in case
- Decoration and furniture: many points were made on this: enough material for another article.
Now, WE also think that an apéritif should be part of the hospitality : a chance to meet your hosts, ask questions about the area, and, for us not rarely, the joy of conversation and discovering fascinating people. There is a risk, of course, that this may be followed, to quote Flaubert, by the sadness of «les sympathies interrompues »...
